Asia assaults the senses. Arriving in Bangkok once, I couldn't sleep for 24 hours – I was high on the noise, flashing lights, people, food, good smells, bad smells and smells uglier than it's possible to imagine. Asia feels like a place of extremes, the mountains seem higher, the paddy fields greener, beaches whiter, chilli peppers hotter and seas bluer than anywhere else in the world. Of course, as Asian philosophers remind us, for every yin there is a yang, for every positive a negative, and the exhaust fumes seem denser, the sewers more pungent, the driving more lethal and the poverty more grinding. The Sultan Abdul Samad building was constructed at the end of the last century and the site was chosen because of its central position. A.C. Here you have a rare combination of the diversity of marine life and the crystal clear water with visibility up to 60 metes. Naturally, the first tourists to the Maldives were keen divers on the look out for a new destination. Once you are here the call of the ocean becomes irresistible. What else can be the best areas for Snorkeling other than the reefs! Around a resort island this is often referred to as the 'house of reef'. The slope features cliffs, terraces and caves which makes quite exciting. As you go down deeper the changes in the coral and other marine flora is conspicuously visible.
